What is a “PC” clearance and marker lamp anyway and where should I use it?

Grote's Answer

A “PC” lamp is a rating by SAE designated to specific Clearance and Marker lamps. It is a lamp that can easily be seen from both the side as well as from the front. This lamp should always be used on trailers that use only one Clearance and Marker lamp in the front corner. That one lamp is mounted on a 45-degree angle so it can be seen from the front and side. Not all clearance and Marker lamps have a “PC” rating and if you use one that does not have this rating your driver can be ticketed.
