Grote's Answer

Grote’s line of LED sealed beam replacement headlights are wired to mate with an industry standard H4 connector. Some DOT sealed beam lamps use an H4 connector and some use another variation. Three of the most common pinout variations are shown on our Instruction Sheet. There have also been instances of vehicle manufacturers using non-standard pinouts and of vehicle owners or mechanics using non-standard wiring for aftermarket upgrades and/or repairs. For this reason, do not rely solely on the provided examples to determine which wire configuration applies to your vehicle.

Installation Steps:

1. Determine the function (ground, low beam, or high beam) of each wire. Note: On a high beam head lamp, there will only be 2 wires.
2. If your vehicle wiring matches the H4 wiring, you can set the adapter harness aside and plug your new Grote LED headlights directly into your vehicle’s H4 connector.
3. For all other configurations snap each wire of the adapter harness into the proper location in the plastic adapter block to match your vehicle wiring. Rearrange adapter harness wires to match vehicle harness configuration and insert into empty plastic adapter block
4. You can now use the adapter to plug your new Grote LED headlights into your vehicle.
