Grote’s Trilliant High-Performance LED WhiteLight Work Lamps Find Favor Among Austrian Ski Professionals in Werfenweng, Bischofshofen and Salzburg

Xenon Lamps Replaced on Snow Groomers in Favor of Superior Lighting Characteristics, Durability and Lifespan of Trilliant LED WhiteLight Work Lamps

WERFENWENG, Austria (March 24, 2010) — Grote Industries, a world leader in high-performance LED lighting technology for the transportation industry, announced that Austrian ski professionals in and around Salzburg are replacing less-effective xenon work lamps with high-performance, high-tech Trilliant LED WhiteLight Work Lamps.

With a rated service life of 35,000 hours, Grote’s Trilliant LED WhiteLight Work Lamps have over ten times the estimated lifespan of xenon work lamps. The Trilliant LED lamps are also significantly more robust than the lamps they are replacing, resisting the types of shock and vibration that would easily cause xenon lamps to fail.

“We can see more contrast in the snow,” Peter Wettengl, manager of the Bergbahnen Werfenweng GmbH, said. “Even at twilight, the view is good. Also on the slope we now have a better feeling with more light and an additional increase in safety.”

In contrast to xenon lamps, the Trilliant’s power consumption fluctuates very little at startup and during operation. Xenon lamps draw enormous amounts of electricity at startup and often cause problems with the alternators of snow groomers and the other vehicles they serve.

“In the beginning, we only mounted a Trilliant LED light next to a xenon light on a snow cat and tried it out,” said Wettengl. “We were very surprised that the Trilliant was equally as bright as the xenon headlamps.”

According to Wettengl, the crucial difference lies in the superior light quality of the Trilliant LED WhiteLight Work lamps. Wettengl indicated that when compared to the light produced by xenon lamps, a Trilliant’s WhiteLight beam provides significantly higher contrast, particularly in snow-covered environments.

Others in and around Werfenweng have taken notice of the Trilliant’s superior performance. Snow cats used to prepare the ski jump platform in Bischofshofen use Trilliant Work Lamps. The mountain railways of Werfenweng now employ both Trilliant and Trilliant Mini Work Lamps in their operation. Even the deputy head of mountain rescue in Salzburg has shown great interest in the advanced LED lighting technology. Using the Trilliant Mini as a rescue searchlight provides a number of advantages. The color temperature of the Trilliant’s LED WhiteLight beam approaches that of natural sunlight, making it an optimal light source for human vision. The Trilliant’s low energy consumption allows it to be powered by a battery, instead of the heavy generators required by previously used searchlights.

Both the Trilliant and Trilliant mini Work Lamps come with a hardened, powder coated, die-cast aluminum housing and a choice of replaceable flood, spot, or trapezoid hard-coated, polycarbonate lenses. The larger and more powerful Trilliant also features a wide flood lens.

“We are so convinced of the Trilliant’s performance and effectiveness, that we have rebuilt all snow groomers and now use only the Trilliant for our headlamps,” said Wettengl. “So far, none of them has left us in the lurch.”
