Grote Industries LED Arrow Turn Signal Lamp First Such Offering on Market Brighter Amber Arrow Pattern, Safer Signal Pattern for School Buses Bright Amber Arrow Pattern Brighter, Safer Signal For Tankers, Van And Flat Trailers MADISON, Indiana, USA (Sept. 28, 2007) -- Shining a more piercing, brilliant light, Grote Industries' new LED arrow turn signal lamp made its official debut today, becoming the first such turn signal option on the market. The large, clear, rugged, long-lasting amber LED arrow signal lamp combines Grote's Performance LEDTM technology and advanced optics to give school bus drivers and their passengers an added safety advantage. Because the light is easier to identify, drivers following the bus have more time and distance to notice and react to a turning bus. "As any school bus driver or parent will tell you, any additional visibility advantage you can gain is critical," said Steve Green, business development manager for Grote's Signal Lighting Division. "After all," Green added. "The cargo in that vehicle is our most precious commodity. We at Grote take our reputation as the first name in vehicle safety systems very seriously. This latest LED development is proof." The easier and more quickly drivers can identify a turning vehicle in front of them, the better they can adjust their speed and accurately estimate stopping time and distance, Green explained. Arrow patterns have been scientifically proven to improve the amount of time drivers had to react to a turning vehicle. "In fact," Green said, "the arrow pattern can offer up to three more feet of reaction time for every 10 mph a vehicle is traveling." Because the lamp is a shock-resistant LED, it stands up to the beating of back country roads and the punishing bouncing and jolting caused by city street pot holes, making it a reliable essential for any bus safety system. The lamp's LED technology, combined with a permanently sealed circuit board, dramatically increases the life of the lamp compared to incandescent lamps. In fact, Grote's LED arrow turn lamp is rated to last 50,000 hours compared to just 1,000 hours for a more fragile incandescent lamp. "Beyond safety, you're talking about saving a lot of time, money and aggravation from repairs and replacement," said Green. "With transportation consuming such a significant portion of school budgets these days, any opportunity to save is important." Grote also backs the new LED arrow turn lamp with a lengthy, three-year warranty.
