New All LED ‘Box Lamps’ Increase Truck Safety Margins
Madison, IN (July 12, 2006)- According to a series of tests performed by the National Highway Transportation Safety Administration (NHTSA), a vehicle traveling at 55 MPH equipped with LED stop/tail/turn lamps gives a trailing vehicle approximately 25 feet of extra breaking distance. This extra margin of safety is one of the primary reasons more truck operators are ordering the new Grote LED powered family of traditional ‘box-style’ stop/tail/turn lamps. The line up includes: · SuperNova® 3 Stud Replacement Lamp...features Grote’s latest SuperNova single LED technology in both the S/T/T and license functions. Bullet proof potting seals and protects the entire circuit board. Applications range from Jeep® to Peterbilt®. · HiCount™ All LED Box Lamp...Uses LEDs for S/T/T, license and backup functions. Features the popular concentric multiple diode design. Potted circuit board protects against both vibration and corrosion. “Fleet economics is another reason to turn to LEDs, because the costs strongly favor this new LED solution. Over 85% of the cost for replacing a lamp is labor and downtime!” according to Page Large, Grote National Fleet Sales Manager. “80% of incandescent lamp failures are due to bulb failure (i.e. broken filament). No filament... no failure.” “16% of all lamp failures are linked to the connection, mostly stemming from corrosion”, Large continued. “The potting in these units is virtually foolproof at eliminating connection missteps,” he concluded. These two new lamps join 12 other Grote ‘box lamp’ solutions, all of which are detailed in the 2006 Grote Safety Systems product catalog (56-9513-26) available from www.grote.com.
