Grote Innovation Produces Surface-Mount LED Drivers Can See Lamp Clearly in Rear View
Madison, IN (October 27, 2006) - Grote Industries engineering innovation has produced the heavy duty vehicle industry’s first surface mount LED side turn lamp. Designed to last the life of vehicle, the new lamp provides plenty of light to the front for drivers to see in their rear view mirrors. Applications for the Surface Mount LED Side-turn include: semi-trailers, tractors, RVs and busses. Importantly, the new lamps’ compliance with SAE J914 1987 make this lamp legal for use in all of North America. According to Grote VP of Engineering Al Hernandez the side turn design features two Lumileds Luxeon LEDs ... one top emitter and one side emitter. “The combination of these highly efficient light sources with jeweled, active reflectors is highly effective at placing light where it is needed,” he said. “This combination allows the lamp to be highly visible in the driver’s rear view mirror.” “Our unique inner lens array optimizes LED output while eliminating the need for expensive additional LEDs,” he concluded. Sentry style UBS male-pin electrical connection provides years of trouble free service. Metal core circuit board dissipates heat from electronic components extending LED life. Additionally, tough polycarbonate lens and housing provide exceptional impact resistance. 122.2mm spacing between mounting screw centers makes retrofitting easy. Screw bosses are designed to withstand high mounting screw torque without cracking. Grote Industries is one of the world’s leading designers and manufacturers of vehicle safety systems and is QS-9000, ISO-14001 and recently TS-16949 certified.
