Grote Announces Internet Availability of Second Volume of Self Study Guide

Troubleshooting Course Continues to Provide Online Training

Madison, IN (April 25, 2005) – Grote Industries has announced the Internet availability of the second volume in its Know-How series of programmed instruction guides. This completes the online versions of their new training program and is now available to anyone with Internet access at www.groteknowhow.com.

While the first Know-How volume focused on the basics of electricity and specification, Volume 2 is a guide for the correct installation and troubleshooting of lighting and wiring on heavy-duty tractors, trucks and trailers. The program is especially targeted to fleet technicians, countermen and distributor salespeople.

This second volume of the two-volume set is now available in paper and electronic versions. The fully illustrated course contains sections on the following subjects:

  • The E.A.T. Principle (Environment, Abuse, Time)
  • Proper Tool and Equipment Selection
  • Understanding Wiring Environment and Routing
  • Troubleshooting Lighting and Circuit Problems
  • Battery System Maintenance
  • Understanding the Requirements of FMVSS 108

A unique feature of the Know-How instruction guide is the self-scoring quizzes following each section and the course ends with a final exam of all six sections to measure the learner’s understanding of the material. Those who take the course can do so at their own pace and the results of the test are recorded so Grote customers can certify their employees have completed the course successfully.

The entire series called Grote Know-How©  is designed to meet a growing need to train front line personnel in the basics of vehicle electrical systems, as well as the special requirements of vehicle safety and lighting systems for medium and heavy-duty trucks.

The entire Grote Know-How© program consists of seven key elements.  These include:

  • Grote Know-How© Self Study Guides…Two volumes covering the basics of vehicle electrical systems, selection of correct product, installation and troubleshooting.
  • Grote Know-How ©Internet Course…An interactive self-study course available over the Internet at www.groteknowhow.com.
