Grote Launches new single and dual system LED back-up lamps
Madison, Ind. (February 13, 2004) - Advances in lighting systems are being made constantly by Grote Industries, the company that first introduced LED technology to the trucking industry more than a decade ago. Now Grote introduces new single-system and dual-system LED back-up lamps that use fewer white LEDs than other models. Using fewer LEDs in back-up lamps translates into less wear and tear on the vehicle's transmission and alternator, reduced power consumption and lower cost. Compared to incandescent lights, LEDs are more efficient and provide greater cost savings to fleets and owner-operators over time. "Incandescent lamps need to be replaced repeatedly during the life of the truck or trailer," says Tim Brooks, Grote director of product development. "Grote SuperNova LEDs last up to 100,000 hours - equivalent to the life of the trailer. As a result, fleets can install LED back-up lamps once, then practically forget about them." Grote designed both single and dual system LED back-up lamps to cover all applications. A trailer designed for a single back-up lamp will use the single system. A trailer with space for two back-up lamps will use the dual system. The single LED back-up lamp emits the same amount of light as two dual system lamps. Therefore, both systems emit the same amount of light, as mandated by FMVSS. Grote SuperNova LED Single System (part # 62401) and Dual System Back-Up Lamps (part # 62391)feature the company's superior male-pin DoubleSeal electrical connections. This system uses a proprietary "O" ring seal which reduces the threat of water leakage into the connector, which can cause corrosion. Grote's "Plug and Go" technology lets fleets retrofit to SuperNova LEDs from their old incandescent lamps in a snap - because the connections are the same.
