In this issue: Bring Technicians Up to Speed with Grote Know-How
With lighting and electrical components consistently ranking as fleets' most frequently serviced vehicle components, it's critical that maintenance personnel know the proper techniques for maintaining and repairing these systems. For this reason, Grote Industries has put its more than 100 years of experience into a new free training program called Grote Know-How. Grote Know-How is a comprehensive training program covering truck and trailer lighting and electrical systems. It is designed to be a self-study method for providing fleet maintenance personnel at all levels with a solid understanding of vehicle electrical system basics, as well as the special requirements of safety and lighting systems for heavy duty trucks and trailers. "Grote has worked closely with fleets for years. We've noticed a growing need for training maintenance personnel in the basics of selecting, installing and troubleshooting one of the most misunderstood systems on a commercial vehicle," said Eric Morris, Grote executive vice president. "Grote Know-How lets participants learn at their own pace to ultimately become expert installers and troubleshooters."
The Grote Know-How program includes several components:
Once a participant has completed the training, he or she will complete certification tests. After passing the first test, the technician receives a certificate and a Grote Know-How hat. After passing the second test, the technician is fully certified and receives an additional Volume one of the self-study guide will be available March 15, with volume two and a poster following by April 15. The DVD training is scheduled for release by May 1. The Internet training should be online by June 1, with the Tech Tips to follow. Multiple copies of all materials are available to fleets at no charge. For more information about the only training program of its kind in the industry, contact your local Grote representative or call (800) 457-9540. |
